What this plate shows
An elevated photograph of the stone bridge: arches, statue groups, the tower at the far end, the castle and cathedral on the hill. Caption on the plate: “PRAGUE. Old Bridge over the Moldau.” An albumen print. Not a lithograph and not a photochrom.

- Architect
- Peter Parler is the documented master of the medieval bridge. The statues are later, and not one campaign.

- Surviving — The bridge, the Old Town bridge tower, and the castle still stand. The year is the Library of Congress catalog date. It is not printed as a year on the caption. Wooden ice-breakers in the river are part of this exposure, not a claim about the river today.
