What this plate shows
An elevated photograph looking along Rue de Rivoli: the arched colonnade, mansard roofs, the garden railing opposite, traffic of carriages. Jouvin, between 1860 and 1870. One view on this file. Not a drawn panorama of Paris, and not Marville’s demolition plates.

- Architect
- The long colonnade is Percier and Fontaine’s, extended in the later nineteenth century. Not one signature on this print.
- Present status
- Altered — The street and the Louvre colonnade still stand. Carriages, lamps, and shopfronts in the picture are of the exposure, not of the present roadway.
