Country and ancestral law

Open the circuit

Ancestral beings shape country. Law, kin, and ceremony are how people know. No continental system is filed.

  1. 01

    Ancestral shaping

Local. Not a creation from nothing shared by all.

  2. 02

    Country

Tracks and sites, not a world-axis.

  3. 03

    Ancestral beings

Of that country. Not an exportable pantheon.

  4. 04

    People of the law

Personhood is relational and not one definition.

  5. 05

    Death in local law

No shared heaven. Spirit return is not universal.

Time
Not a line toward apocalypse and not a kalpa. The English word Dreaming does not settle the metaphysics.
Agents
Ancestral beings and the living under law.
Human slot
To keep law in country. No shared telos-sentence.
Break
Breach of law, locally understood. Not a cosmic anti-god.

Recorded claims

An evidence label is shown only where the kind of source is already established. No label means unclassified. A label is not a judgment. Source Needed means no source is attached yet. It does not mean the claim is false, weak, or disproven.

  1. Origin / Reality

Ancestral beings shape country. There is no single Aboriginal creation story.

    Source Needed
  2. Human Nature

People belong to country, kin, and law. Personhood is not one definition.

    Source Needed
  3. Death / Afterlife

Death is handled in local law. A shared afterlife map is not recorded here.

    Source Needed
  4. Rebirth

Spirit return or spirit children appear in some groups. Not a universal reincarnation doctrine.

    Source Needed
  5. Other Beings

Ancestral beings and other presences in country. Not a portable pantheon.

    Source Needed
  6. Other Realms

The Dreaming is an English gloss. It is not one other-world stacked above this one, and not one religion.

    Source Needed
  7. World Structure / Axis

Country — tracks, sites, and song. Not a Meru and not a world-tree.

    Source Needed
  8. Destruction / Reset

Not centered on a future end of the world. Local catastrophe stories are not one myth.

    Source Needed
  9. How Truth Is Known

Country, song, kinship, ceremony, and elders. Outsider summaries are not the tradition.

How we know

Where the evidence comes from, and how far it is from the people it describes. The labels are not a score. They do not rank traditions. A manuscript year, a tradition’s own claim, and a date from the ground are kept apart on the timeline.

Rock art and other traces of occupation are ancient, and some paintings are many thousands of years old by archaeological dating. Those dates do not decode a story. Writing about the traditions is colonial and recent: outsiders’ ethnography, and Aboriginal authors speaking for their own countries.

There is no contemporary text of a continental doctrine, because there is no continental doctrine to have one. The traditions may be very old. The surviving sentences are not. A date for paint is not a date for a myth, and a myth from one people is not the neighbor’s. Insufficient evidence is the accurate classification for any shared creed.

Original evidence → transmission / copy → translation / documentation → modern interpretation

  1. 01

    Original evidence

    Contemporary artifact or inscription

Art, sites, and country are material evidence of presence and of practice. They are not a script that states a theology.

  2. 02

    Transmission / copy

    Recorded oral tradition

What can be cited in words was spoken, and then written by someone, often in the last two centuries. Some of it was never meant for print.

  3. 03

    Translation / documentation

    Outside account

Colonial reports and many anthropological books are outside accounts. Aboriginal writing and teaching are not the same class. Translation into English drops the language the law was kept in.

  4. 04

    Modern interpretation

    Unknown / insufficient surviving evidence

A modern summary of “Aboriginal religion” invents a unity the evidence does not have. This chart’s cells refuse that summary. Where a people’s account was not given, nothing is supplied.

The twenty-one questions

Asked of every system. Gaps are recorded as gaps. Nothing here is filled in to make a pattern prettier.

  1. 01

    Where are we?

In country, under the law of ancestral beings. There is no single Aboriginal ‘where.’

Read every system on this question
  2. 02

    What is reality made of?

Country is not ‘made of’ a neutral material in this record. It is shaped by ancestral beings and known through law.

Read every system on this question
  3. 03

    What is a human being?

A relative of country and kin under ancestral law. Nations do not share one theory of the person.

Read every system on this question
  4. 04

    What is consciousness?

Not a single doctrine. Dream, country, and law are how knowledge is talked about, in words that differ by language.

Read every system on this question
  5. 05

    Where did humanity come from?

People come from ancestral beings and country, told locally. There is no continental origin myth.

Read every system on this question
  6. 06

    What happens at death?

Local mortuary law. A common heaven or hell is not the record.

Read every system on this question
  7. 07

    Does consciousness return to embodiment?

Some groups tell of spirit children or of a spirit’s return. Many do not use anything like a karmic cycle. Do not generalize.

Read every system on this question
  8. 08

    Where is consciousness between lives?

Not recorded here as a between-lives place shared across peoples.

Read every system on this question
  9. 09

    Are there nonhuman intelligent beings?

Yes. Ancestral beings and other presences, specific to country. They are not a pantheon you can lift out of place.

Read every system on this question
  10. 10

Can those beings become human or appear human?

Ancestral beings are often human-formed and more than human, and they remain in country. ‘Become human’ is the wrong question.

  11. 11

Are there multiple realms or worlds?

The Dreaming is not recorded here as a second continent above this one. Country and ancestral law are the structure people actually teach.

Read every system on this question
  12. 12

Is there a central mountain, tree, pillar, axis, heart, or sacred center?

The structure is country and track. Sacred sites are many. They are not one continental axis.

Read every system on this question
  13. 13

    Is the world itself alive?

Country is lived with, and ancestral. That is among the stronger living-world records, and it is not one Aboriginal doctrine of a world-animal.

Read every system on this question
  14. 14

Has civilization or the world been destroyed or reset before?

Not a future end of the world. Stories of local catastrophe belong to particular countries.

Read every system on this question
  15. 15

Does history operate linearly or cyclically?

The Dreaming is not past in a simple line and not a wheel of kalpas. Peoples explain its relation to ordinary time in their own ways.

Read every system on this question
  16. 16

Is there an opposing positive/negative force?

Law can be broken, with consequences. A single cosmic enemy is not the record used here.

Read every system on this question
  17. 17

What is humanity supposed to become?

To live by law in one’s country. There is no shared sentence about what a human is supposed to become.

Read every system on this question
  18. 18

Is reincarnation a destination, punishment, school, growth process, or something else?

Local beliefs about spirit children or return are not one system and are not given one function on this chart.

Read every system on this question
  19. 19

What lies beyond the visible world?

Ancestral presence in country, which outsiders should not redraw as a generic spirit-world.

Read every system on this question
  20. 20

How does this tradition claim humans can know any of this?

Elders, ceremony, and country. This chart does not know what it has not been given.

Read every system on this question
  21. 21

Does the structure or motion of the heavens correspond to events, conditions, or consciousness within the human realm?

Some peoples tie sky, season, and law together closely. There is no one Aboriginal astrology to file.

  22. 22

    Why did humanity forget?

    Not recorded in this chart.
