Open the circuit

Ordered cosmos emerges from a primordial state. Personhood has multiple components. The dead travel. Solar cycle and renewal are the clock.

  1. 01

    Primordial state → order

The cosmos emerges; it is achieved order, not a dead accident.

  2. 02

    Solar journey / cosmic order

The structure of time and world is the sun’s path and Maat-like order in the wider frame.

  3. 03

    Gods and spirits

A populated cosmos. Divine manifestation belongs here.

  4. 04

    Multiple components of personhood

The human is not a simple soul-body split.

  5. 05

    Duat and celestial passage

Extensive postmortem journey. Renewal motifs, not an Indian reincarnation school in this record.

Time
Cyclical death and renewal, including the solar journey.
Agents
Gods, spirits; priestly knowledge as the knowing-path.
Human slot
A composite person who must make the journey; ritual and sacred texts are the interface.
Break
Disorder against cosmic order, in the wider frame. Not isolated here as a single anti-god running the whole system.

Recorded claims

An evidence label is shown only where the kind of source is already established. No label means unclassified. A label is not a judgment. Source Needed means no source is attached yet. It does not mean the claim is false, weak, or disproven.

How we know

Where the evidence comes from, and how far it is from the people it describes. The labels are not a score. They do not rank traditions. A manuscript year, a tradition’s own claim, and a date from the ground are kept apart on the timeline.

The Pyramid Texts were carved in royal pyramids around the 24th century BCE. They are contemporary inscriptions of that ritual literature. They are not a handbook of all Egyptian religion for the next two thousand years.

“Ancient Egyptian” on this chart spans a very long time. The Book of the Dead is a later copy-tradition of spells. Greek and Roman descriptions are outside accounts from the end of that span. Decipherment in the 1820s is modern. A translation is not the wall it translates. Gaps inside the span are normal, not a license to fill them from later centuries.

Original evidence → transmission / copy → translation / documentation → modern interpretation

  1. 01

    Original evidence

    Contemporary primary text

Pyramid Texts, and later coffin and temple inscriptions, are primary texts of their own centuries. Each dates to the monument it is on.

  2. 02

    Transmission / copy

    Later copy of earlier text

Funerary books copy and rearrange spells across dynasties. A Ptolemaic papyrus is not an Old Kingdom wall.

  3. 03

    Translation / documentation

    Modern scholarly reconstruction

Reading the hieroglyphs depends on modern decipherment. The reading is documentation. It can be wrong without the stone being wrong.

  4. 04

    Modern interpretation

    Modern scholarly reconstruction

A synthesis called “Egyptian religion” is a modern summary across periods. It is not what any one inscription set out to be. This chart’s cell is that kind of summary, and it says so by staying short.
